FAQs

What is HiveDrive?
It’s an app that revolutionizes carpooling to give parents and children more freedom.
What age group is HiveDrive designed for?
Whether your child is in elementary school, middle school, or high school, HiveDrive provides a convenient and safe transportation alternative.
When’s a good time to use HiveDrive?
Anytime! Whenever your children, their friends, classmates, or teammates need a ride to or from anywhere…day, night, or weekend. You have a lot going on and so do your children. Now you can all do the things you need and want to do with a lot less stress knowing their rides are covered. Hello HiveDrive. Good-bye chaos.
Why does my family need HiveDrive?
Ever had to get out of bed at 11 pm to go pick up your child from a party, or had to leave work to get your child from an after-school activity, only to get there and find your next-door neighbor is in the car next to you? Or have you allowed your child to take a paid rideshare and been a nervous wreck until they got to their destination?
We get it. We’re moms and we’ve experienced everything you have. That’s why we created HiveDrive – to make life easier for parents, give children the freedom they crave, and provide peace of mind for all.
What are households and hives?
A Household is comprised of parents, and kids. Hives are various households forming a larger group to be able to offer rides to each other’s children for a specific carpooling need (e.g. soccer team, Friday night at the mall, school pick up...). Hives can be created in-the-moment for a one-time carpool or in advance and they can be recurring. HiveDrive streamlines communications with everyone in the hive.
How many households do I need to create a hive?
It takes a minimum of 2, but the more households you know who are on the app, the more ride options your children can draw from. So, it’s recommended that parents and children invite friends, classmates, teammates, and neighbors to join HiveDrive.
What are HiveDrive’s benefits?
HiveDrive helps children get the freedom and independence they crave and helps parents save time and money, reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact, and gain peace of mind while their children are carpooling. HiveDrive streamlines communications to make carpooling more efficient. All parents are notified of a ride request by HiveDrive’s unique notification sound so parents will never miss an important message (as long as they have their sound on).
Is HiveDrive safe and secure for my child?
Very. Your children’s safety and security are our focus. HiveDrive was designed with stringent safety measures and features to ensure a secure environment, including:
Community-Based Approach
The drivers are parents of your local community that are already driving your children. HiveDrive just makes it easier and more organized.
Efficient Communication
Our in-app chat function enables direct communication between parents and the children in the carpool, allowing you to stay connected and address any concerns or questions you may have before or during the carpooling journey.
Privacy Protection
We take privacy seriously and have implemented robust security measures to safeguard your personal information and your children’s. Your data is handled with the utmost care and in compliance with relevant privacy regulations.
Please note – We do all we can to create a safe and secure carpooling environment. We also recommend that parents discuss safety guidelines with their children.
Can I trust the drivers?
All HiveDrive drivers must certify that they have a valid driver’s license and up-to-date insurance. And, since they are parents of children in the carpool and members of your community, there’s already a strong foundation of familiarity, trust, and accountability. They share your interest in safety and creating a responsible experience.
Is there a limit on the number of children allowed in each carpool?
Yes. It’s determined by the number of available seatbelts in the vehicle. Since safety is our top priority, it’s crucial to ensure that every child in each carpool has a seat and is properly secured with a seatbelt. In the event that the driver who claimed the ride doesn’t have enough seats or seat belts, they can communication through the in-app chat and invite another parent to help.
What if my child lives in two different households?
Currently, a child needs to be assigned to one primary household, but that household may have several parent drivers regardless of whether or not those adult drivers all live at the same home address.
